Since 2003 the Mazda 626 has been replaced by the Mazda6, and they have tried to push it as a little bit of a sportier model, often comparing it with their much smaller Miata model, and through the use of their “Zoom, Zoom” advertising slogan. Unfortunately this year’s model may not fit into the current economy, as it is a bit bigger, has worse fuel economy and is about $2,000 more expensive than last year’s model. It’s power has increased along with everything else though, and the optional 3.7-liter V6 is able to mimic the defunct Mazdaspeed6 in statistics, and even the 2.5 liter four-cylinder is impressive. This year’s Mazda6 is probably going to have a tough time given it’s competitors and the current economy, but they are most definitely taking steps in the right direction, and we hope next year proves even more successful.
